Sealing Wax and Melting Spoon

For over 30 years we used to supply the worlds  best sealing wax which came from George Waterston and Son (Edinburgh). The firm sadly finally closed down in 2003 but there was plenty of stock for another company to sell for the next 25 years but this has finally run out. So we were delighted to find out that The British Wax Refining Company from Redhill Surrey had taken on the mantle of creating the same very high quality natural sealing wax of security grade.

The Waterstons wax used to come with a wick in the middle, however this created soot when burnt which blackened the seal. Having the wick was convenient but difficult to get a clean wax seal. The best way to create a good pool of wax is to break off bits and warm it gently in a sealing spoon. This way you can get a decent pool and you can pour with more control. All you have to do is hold the spoon over a candle or tea-light until the wax is melted. With a bit of practise you will be able to create an excellent wax seal from you signet ring.
